Madagascar's primary language is Malagasy, while some French is spoken as well. The government mandated the teaching of English in primary schools in 2003, and the demand for English education has skyrocketed since then, resulting in a lot of teaching positions.

The academic year in Madagascar runs from October to October, and the official primary school admission age is six years old. The primary school cycle lasts five years, the lower secondary cycle four years, and the upper secondary cycle three years.

In Madagascar, a typical school day lasts from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.

The TEFL internship in Madagascar offers you the chance to learn TEFL through our 170 hour Combined TEFL course. You'll put what you learn into practice by completing Teaching Practice sessions in Madagascar and then you'll go on to teach local students from all walks of life; Kids, Young Learners, Adults and Professionals. When you complete your 3 month TEFL internship, you'll be the proud owner of an accredited and internationally accepted TEFL certificate. You'll also have real teaching experience and an endorsement from your local training school in Antananarivo on your CV.

The Haute-Ville, with its gorgeous colonial buildings, steep streets, and mild climate (Antananarivo's average height is 1400m), is an excellent area to while away the hours in the heart of the city. There are also some fantastic markets and shops selling products and crafts from all over the country at low prices. You will discover a huge amount of culture and history in this beautiful city!

Madagascar is not an expensive country to live in. The flights are usually the most expensive element of a trip to Madagascar. Although "getting to the country is pricey," Nomad Matt, a well-known travel writer, noted in 2017 that "once you're there, everything is incredibly cheap."
