About HelloKid

A global online classroom, one student-teacher pair at a time

HelloKid is an online English-learning platform founded in 2014 by Hangzhou Captain Educational Technology Co., Ltd. Every day, HelloKid connects students aged 4–16 around the world with fluent English speakers through live, one-on-one video lessons built around a structured, standards-based curriculum.

Rather than rotating tutors, HelloKid fixed-pairs each student with one teacher for the length of their course — some pairings last years — so you get to watch real progress happen, lesson by lesson, instead of teaching one-off classes.

TEFL UK partners with HelloKid to place qualified, TEFL-certified teachers into their online classroom, guiding you through the application and training process at no cost.

Fixed student-teacher pairings mean real relationships, not one-off classes

HelloKid Teacher

"I don't see this as a job so much as being part of a family — an amazing team of co-workers, and students who are always ready to learn and full of joy."

FAQs

Online Teaching Jobs with HelloKid — Your Questions Answered

Do I need a degree to teach English online with HelloKid?

No — a university degree isn't a listed requirement for this role. What matters is fluent English, at least one year of teaching experience, and a TEFL, TESOL or CELTA certificate. This makes it one of the more accessible ways to teach online without a degree.

Can non-native English speakers apply?

Yes. The requirement is a fluent English speaker with a native or neutral accent — not a specific nationality or passport. If your spoken English is fluent and clear, you're eligible to apply, making this one of the more open online teaching jobs for non-native English speakers.

How long is the contract?

Contracts run for one year and are renewable, giving you a stable, ongoing online teaching role rather than short-term or casual work.

What kind of requirements does HelloKid need?

Fluent English with a native or neutral accent, at least one year of teaching experience, a TEFL/TESOL/CELTA certificate, a passion for teaching learners aged 4–16, and availability across 4–6 days a week including peak hours (6:00–9:30pm Beijing time).

What equipment do I need?

A computer with an Intel Core i5 processor or above (CPU benchmark 4000+), a headset with a clear microphone, and a stable internet connection of at least 10 Mbps upload and 30 Mbps download.

Where does the interview happen?

Entirely online, by video call — there's no need to travel anywhere as part of the application process.

Who supports me once I start teaching?

You won't be teaching in isolation. HelloKid provides a Faculty Mentor for day-to-day support during your working hours, plus Study and Course Consultants who handle scheduling and the day-to-day logistics of your students, so you can focus on teaching.

How do I sign up?
