A real lesson from the bundle

A1 Adults · Lesson 4: Countries and nationalities · 60 minutes. Every plan sets out clear objectives, timed stages, step-by-step teacher instructions, the target language and how to assess learning.

  1. Warmer

    Guess the flag

Show 3–4 flags. "Which country is this?" then "What nationality is a person from there?", with a quick look at the map.

  2. Presentation

    Vocabulary input

Introduce 8–10 countries and nationalities with flashcards and audio, build a country/nationality chart on the board, then check understanding with concept questions.

  3. Controlled practice A

    Match and write

Worksheet: students match countries to nationalities and write the correct forms.

  4. Controlled practice B

    Gap-fill dialogue

Pairs complete a short dialogue, then practise it aloud.

  5. Freer practice

    Classmate profiles

Each student gets a fictional ID card, then mingles asking "Where are you from?" and "What nationality are you?" to fill in a partner grid.

  6. Cooler

    Country chant

A rhythmic chant to finish: "I'm from Italy, I'm Italian! She's from France, she's French!"
